Habitat for Humanity Victoria Announces New CEO

Habitat for Humanity Victoria is pleased to announce that Carmen Rempel will be joining the organization as its new Chief Executive Officer this summer. Rempel, a seasoned leader in non-profit management and community development, brings a strong track record of impact-driven leadership to her new role.

For the past five years, Rempel has served as the Executive Director of Kelowna’s Gospel Mission, where she spearheaded significant advancements in housing, outreach, and support services for individuals experiencing homelessness. Her expertise in strategic visioning, community collaboration, and advocacy has made a lasting impact in the sector.

“We are thrilled to welcome Carmen to Habitat for Humanity Victoria,” said Habitat for Humanity Victoria Board Chair, Wes Shoemaker. “Her dedication to creating stronger, more inclusive communities aligns perfectly with our mission of providing safe and affordable homeownership opportunities for families in need.”

Habitat for Humanity Victoria also extends its heartfelt gratitude to the senior leadership team and, in particular, interim CEO Krista Bekkema, for their dedication and leadership during this transition period.

Rempel is eager to bring her passion for generational poverty reduction to Habitat for Humanity Victoria. She looks forward to driving meaningful systems change through impact-focused action and will play a key role in rolling out the organization’s new Strategic Plan. “I am honoured to join Habitat for Humanity Victoria and continue its vital work in addressing housing affordability,” said Rempel. “I look forward to collaborating with our partners, volunteers, and the community to create lasting change.”
