We celebrated with Sarah as she became the latest Habitat Homeowner in Victoria to receive the keys to a new home.
Sarah and her family have been partnering with Habitat Victoria for 2 years working towards a safe, decent and affordable place to live.
Family, friends, volunteers and the Habitat team were on hand to watch as she received her keys. Our thanks to everyone who made this possible, in particular, Cube Project Management for donating the land, Central Saanich and BC Housing as major funders, Polo Village Developments and Rob Scott Construction for partnering with Habitat to construct this home.

Many thanks to the folks at Balance Home Cleaning who gave up their Sunday to volunteer to clean Sarah's home. What a great way to wrap up national volunteer week by supporting us in our core mission to create strength and stability to families by providing a place for Sarah and her family to call home.
A round of applause to: Mattias, Lindsay, Emilie, Eriko, Mai, Haruka, Yasuaki, Jomandi, and Josh. We are counting down the days until Sarah will receive her keys on the 14th of May.
Interior finishing is continuing this week with painting. The flooring finishes are all in, the kitchen and lighting is in place and the appliances have been put into place.
The weather is being kind to us today, the driveway has been laid and is now curing. As this is a micro-lot there is no garden, but a rear patio and carport instead.
On our latest visit we found the siding up and the doors and banisters in along with an almost completed kitchen, we are counting down the days now until we can have a key ceremony for Sarah.

The outside of the house is getting it's exterior cladding completed.
The kitchen and bathroom cabinets are now taking shape, floor tiles are going down in the bathroom.
Windows in, dry wall up. During our recent visit in early February the drywall was up and the electrics and plumbing are in place. Doors have been delivered ready for fitting and the bath is in!
Our 2018 Gingerbread Showcase helped us raise more than $93,000 towards the building of Sarah's home. Progress has been swift and the main structure of the house was completed by Christmas. Sarah and her family have been working in partnership with Habitat for Humanity Victoria to complete 500 hours of volunteer service known as 'sweat equity'.
Construction started in the Autumn of 2018 on this single family home, part of a 20 unit development project in Central Saanich. The land was donated by Cube Project Management.
